New Zealand has the highest melanoma incidence rate in the world. More than 7,200 melanomas are diagnosed each year and around 300 lives are lost. Early detection greatly improves survival.
Allevia Radiology and Melanoma New Zealand are partnering to provide free spot checks and melanoma education across several Auckland communities this April and May. A qualified Melanoma New Zealand Nurse Educator will assess up to three spots or lesions and advise if follow up with a GP or skin specialist is recommended.

Who Can Come:
Open to Allevia staff and patients, along with those from co-located medical centres, as well as Westgate Shopping Centre staff and shoppers.
No bookings required – first come, first served.
What to expect:
- Free skin cancer spot check – up to three spots or lesions
- Assessment from a qualified Melanoma New Zealand Nurse Educator
- Sunscreen samples
- Melanoma self-check brochure covering prevention, what to look for, and available diagnostic imaging
Note: These checks raise awareness and help identify any suspicious moles or lesions. They do not replace a full body skin examination with your GP or skin specialist.
